30 Lessons from 30 miles in 30 Days
I hate running.
It’s boring.
The pounding of my feet on the road hurts my body. I will need to shower and do extra laundry so that no one else will need to know I was in fact running. However, I cannot deny that it is accessible and efficient.
Since late Spring and through the summer while reading Colossians on Facebook, I am thinking about endurance. We already talk about resilience here, but endurance is different. There’s nuance. Resilience is bouncing back. Endurance is moving forward. Resilience is recovery. Endurance is living.
I consistently test the words of Paul because I believe in the embodiment of Scripture. I call this Bible with Boots. I need to know it in my bones, my hands, my feet, my tongue. Emmanuel. Word becomes flesh. The Holy Spirit lives in the body. It’s about the things of heaven showing themselves powerful on earth.
So, I issued myself a challenge to see what putting pressure on my endurance would do. Run thirty miles in thirty days. Would I quit? Tempting. Would I be injured? There was that time I dropped a yard timber on my foot. By the grace of God alone, would I finish? Yes. I did.
Hebrews 10: 36 CSB
“For you need endurance, so that after you have done God’s will, you may receive what was promised.”
Living with a vibrant faith, confidence in God little by little, not shrinking back because of stress, fear, or laziness; it will all be rewarded. If you want to know more about it, consider reading the entire chapter because Paul always says it best.
The following are the 30 Lessons From 30 Miles in 30 Days shared by the ten of us who intentionally stressed ourselves. (All are written in first person as the participant shared, not because they belong to me).
